Marrakech in a few words

Marrakech has granted its name to Morocco; if it is not the capital, this imperial city, called "The pearl of the South", remains with Fez the historical heart of Morocco. With its ideal location, with equal distance from the atlantic coast and the first dunes of the Sahara, Marrakech is also the gate of the Moroccan South. Its ambiance, colors and its climate enchants its visitor with a genuine change of scenery.
As eternal as the snows on the highest peaks, as impressive as the Atlas Mountains, as steeped in history as the palm trees are rooted in the earth, the perfect proportions of the Ménara pavilion may be contemplated, mirrored in the quiet still waters that stand before it, you cannot miss Marrakesh.
The most worthwhile tourist traps are collected inside a rather small zone, starting in the north with the suuqs, continuing through the town square of Jemaa l-Fna with its crowd of storytellers, musicians and the Koutoubia mosque which is visible from practically anywhere in Marrakech.Going beyond this, the Menara gardens- by young Marrakechians considered as the most romantic place in town- is high up on the list. But don't forget to visit one of the many examples of sights left by the many Europeans and Americans who fell so much in love with Marrakech that they erected their palaces and gardens here.

Cultural visits

In the Medina :
The Koutoubia Tower : a Tower of 77m built by Abdelmoumen in the 12th Century. It stood as a model for building the Giralda of Sevilla…

the souks : gathered according to professions, one finds the souk of dyers, the souk of Shouari ( one of basket makers and wood turners), the souk of Haddadin ( one of ironware merchants), the souk of copper, the souk of Smata where a smell of fresh leather diffuses into the air, and where traditional slippers are made, and the souk of Sherratin.

The Medersa Ben Youssef : One of the most fabulous monument of the city. This koranic school could comprise up to 900 pupils…

The Marrakech Museum : close to the Medersa Ben Youssef, Dar M’nebhi palace is one of the most attractive work of art of the 19th Century. Transformed into a museum, it receives permanently contemporary works and orientalists as well as cultural act
