Nestling behind a discrete blue shuttered façade in a little street in the old village of Tautavel, at the foot of the castle ruins, is “ L’Ile aux Mimosas”, our delightful B&B made up of several 18th century vineyard buildings.

The rear of the house opens out onto a terrace overlooking the gently sloping garden leading down to the swimming pool. Whether it be in the shade of the old fig tree, or at the edge of the swimming pool, calm pervades these old stone buildings in the heart of the village.

A huge room bathed in romanticism, overlooking the garden and the swimming pool, it affords a wonderful view of the vineyard with the Ste Puellles Chapelle in the distance.

A large suite furnished in 19th century style, made up of a lounge with a fireplace, cornices and an adjoining bedroom. The suite can accommodate up to four people as there is a double bed in the bedroom and a comfortable sofa bed in the lounge.

Situated in the heart of the Côtes du Roussillon vineyards in the Catalan Corbière mountains, this winemaking village has been famous since 1971, following the discovery in the Caune de l’Arago of the skull of the oldest prehistoric man in Europe (- 450 000 years) – the man from Tautavel. A visit to the Pre-history museum with its various attractions will take you back into the mists of time. An ideal starting point for visiting the Cathar castles, you will discover for yourself a series of high landscapes with valleys offering magnificent panoramic views from the sea to the mountains. Nature is still wild here, and remains intact under a sky as crystal-clear as the river water, inviting you to bathe in the limestone canyons. 

Our B&B is made up of various old buildings with many steps between the communal parts of the house. To get to the garden and the swimming pool, you need to take several flights of steps, which could be an obstacle for people with mobility problems and may present a risk for young children.
