By Road
From Bordeaux heading south east; Take the A62/E72 autoroute and exit at Junction 4, signposted for La Reole and approximately 65Km from Bordeaux. Follow the signs to La Reole crossing back over the motorway and continue for approximately 8km to the village of Fontet (don’t take the first road signed to Meilhan….it’s hard to follow). There take a right turn to follow the signs to Hure and then straight onward to Meilhan-sur-Garonne. Drive down through the village of meilhan until you come to the canal and turn right to join and follow the canal. After approximately 1Km you will come to a Lock (ecluse) and cross the canal; continue on the D113 following the canal for another few hundred meters, on the right hand side you will get a glimpse of the Chateau Sauvin towers above the canal….notice a bridge over the canal with the name “Cantis”, turn right back to this bridge and cross it, the road only follows the canal for a few meters and turns to the right; almost immediately after this turn you will find the road marked SAUVIN to the right. Take this road for approximately 500 meters up the hill and find the gate to the Chateau on the right. You have arrived!

Coming from Toulouse heading north west; Take the A62/E72 autoroute and exit at Junction 5, signposted for Marmande. This is just after the “Mas d’Agenais” services. Off the motorway exit, turn to the right following directions signposted to Marmande for about 3 kilometers. You will pass over the Canal du Lateral at the tiny village of Pont-des-Sables, here turn left onto the D143 following this road for approximately 5 Km you will come to the D3 at the hamlet of Bernes, turn left and then right to cross over the D3 and continue along the canal taking the D116 in direction Meilhan. This road follows the canal and after only about 1500 meters…. the second road to the left (after passing the signs for Tersac and it’s school) you will see a bridge named “Cantis”. Turn left to cross this bridge in a U shape, on the other side of the canal the road only follows the canal for a few meters and turns to the right; almost immediately after this turn you will find the road marked SAUVIN to the right. Take this road for approximately 500 meters up the hill and find the gate to the Chateau on the right. You have arrived!

Coming from Bergerac heading south: If you have arrived at Bergerac by air, exit the airport and at the main road (N21) turn left in the signposted direction of Bergerac. After a kilometer or so, you will come to a large roundabout, taking a left turn you will now follow the D936 (E1 a ring road) in direction Ste Foy. After about another kilometer you will hit another roundabout, again turning left in the direction of Rouffignac, Miramont and Marmande on the D933. Continue on the D933 until you reach Marmande, then continue through Marmande on the D933 in the diretion of Casteljaloux. Just after leaving the town of Marmande, you will cross the river garonne, shorthly afterwards you come to a roundabout, take the direction Gaujac/Meilhan s Garonne signposted on the D116. After passing through the village of Gaujac and approximately 5km, you will reach a T junction, turn left onto the D3 in the direction of Meilhan/Marcellus and continue for a few hundred meters on the D3 where, just before rising to cross the Canal du Lateral, you turn right, (back onto the D116) in direction Meilhan . By Air
From many European airports flights to the south west France are serviced by providers like Ryanair, flybe, Easyjet, Air France, Aer Aaran, Brussels airline, BMIbaby, BA, KLM, Lufthanza, Alitalia etc. Flying into the international/regional airport of Merignac in Bordeaux (most convenient) is only 45 minutes drive down the A62 autoroute by rental car. Bergerac is another airport option about an hours drive away, but no autoroute!

By Train
TGV/Thalys/Eurostar services operate from London and Brussels (via Lille), Paris, Lille, Bordeaux, Nice, Marseille to Marmande, only 15 km from Meilhan and Chateau de Sauvin. Taxi’s from Marmande are inexpensive, or we can pick you up from the station.
