A self contained studio apartment for 2 by our swimming pool, with private terrace. It is situated in the extensive secluded grounds of our house, which itself lies in the foothills of the Pyrenees.

Our studio apartment is behind our poolhouse. Our house and grounds are situated in a tranquil area of south west France, close to Perpignan. You can swim in our own secluded pool (no costume necessary). Visit Mediterranean beaches, historic sites, Spain (Barcelona, Gerona, Sitges all within easy reach) or go cycling or mountain walking in the Pyrenees. You can travel here easily by Rail, Road or Air. This area is served by flights from London Stansted, Birmingham, Bristol & East Midlands (Ryanair) to Perpignan, Montpellier, Nîmes and Carcassonne and from several other UK and European airports to Girona (Spain); from Luton, Liverpool and Gatwick (Easyjet) to Barcelona, from Southampton to Perpignan (Flybe) or Manchester to Perpignan (BMiBaby). Note that some of these routes operate only during certain seasons.

Our house rests in its own grounds of 1.3 hectares (about 3.5 acres) and these are planted with native trees and shrubs. The area around our house forms the low foothills of the Pyrenees and many visitors enjoy walking in this area.  Please note that our house is also home to three cats so that we regretfully cannot accommodate guests’ dogs or other pets on the property.

Mas d'En Coste is about 500m (10 mins. walk) from the hamlet of Politg which is itself 7km by road from the town of Thuir. Politg forms part of the commune of Camélas, and contains about 30 houses but no shops or bars etc. Perpignan is 20km to the east and the coastal resorts of Canet Plage, St. Cyprien and Argeles sur Mer are within a 40 minute drive. Guests arriving by rail or air are likely to find it is most convenient to hire a car on arrival, as Politg is not served by any public transport.

The climate in the Roussillon area is generally quite mild all year round, most rain tending to fall in late winter and early spring. The summers can be dry, often with very little or no rain for several weeks. Due to our proximity to the Mediterranean and the Pyrenees the maximum daytime temperature in summer does not usually rise much above the lower thirties centigrade and there is often a breeze, which ensures that the days do not become too hot.
