The Portalet is located in the heart of the historical centre of the small medieval town of Uzès, the first dukedom in France – oppidum already existing in 50 A.D. built around the same time as the Pont du Gard aqueduct – and a powerful bishopric stretching from the 5th century to the French Revolution.

The region of Uzès and the Pont du Gard offers a range of cultural and sports activities or is just perfect for some serious relaxing.
Visit the historical centre of Uzès and discover the magnificent panorama of the surrounding countryside from the duke’s castle dominating the town. Don’t miss the famous sites and monuments: the Pont du Gard, Bamboo Park in Anduze, Roman monuments in Nîmes and Avignon... not to mention the typical villages in the Uzège region such as Saint Quentin-la-Poterie and its potters or the perched village of Lussan

Enjoy yourself at one of the many music, story-telling and theatre festivals in Uzès and the outskirts: the Uzès “Musical Nights” Festival in July, the New Dance Festival in June, the World Music Festival in the Uzège villages in August, the Avignon Theatre Festival in July, etc. And don’t forget to go for a dip or canoeing in the Gorges of the Gardon River, a truly refreshing paradise in summer.

A region of vineyards and olive groves… Uzège represents Provence in all its splendour. The Provencal market is held in Uzès each Saturday, where you can taste many regional products: wine, asparagus, olive oil, honey, black truffles, peaches and apricots, all depending on the season. A number of wineries sell sun-kissed wines, from viognier grape wines to be sipped in the shade to elegant red wines that marry perfectly with a leg of lamb seasoned with garrigue thyme.

The Portalet is a 3-storeyed townhouse located in a rich historical area. Each floor has been turned into an apartment with a shared lounge room on the ground floor. The apartments have each been named after a grape variety – Viognier, Syrah and Grenache – and all boast an exceptional view of the garrigue countryside and vineyards.
