Skiing, Mountain-hiking & Horse-riding.

The Val d'Allos lies in the valley of Haut Verdon in the Alpes de Haute Provence, two hours away from both Nice and Marseille. The whole east side of the Val D'Allos Mountain is part of the Mercantour nature reserve and from the La Foux d'Allos ski resort (1850-2650m) you'll see the Massif de l'Aiguille et de la Grande Soléane (2950m). Thanks to the link with Pra-Loup, the resort offers one of the largest skiing domains in the Alpes du Sud. Lower, close to the old style village of Allos, the familly resort known as Seignus d'Allos (1450-2450m) offers a summer activity camp (lake, water sports, tennis). Even lower in the valley you'll cross Colmar les Alpes with it's impressive fortifications erected by Vauban as well as the strongholds built around the same time, where the french border used to be set. At the end of the scenic route that leads to Saint André des Alpes, the Verdon almost seems to melt in the Lake de Castellane.
