Le Domaine aux Quat' Saisons
|
Night from 95 € Clientele : All welcome |
Le Domaine aux Quat’Saisons is the product of generations of tasteful living, but essentially it is a home; guests will immediately be aware of the pleasure, which , the owners, have in sharing it with others.
Built in 1882 the house is unique in retaining many of its original features from the beautiful tiled floors and panelled walls, to the family crest in the hall’s stained glass doors. The house, though typically French in the large proportions of its rooms, has been personalized to include many objets d’art, Persian rugs, and antiques from our travels abroad.
Recently, we have undertaken the project of completely redesigning and replanting the two acre garden to reflect our passion for plants and gardening. We will be delighted to discuss with you the planting schemes, which have been inspired by local flora and dry gardens in the Minervois and in the UK.
Quiet and secluded the large pool provides an oasis of lushness and colour during summer months. Here guests can sit around the pool side or under the cover of a veranda and watch the swallows skim the water and the butterflies feed on the hibiscus and bougainvillaea. It is an ideal place to relax after a day’s sight seeing. At night the 130 year old cedars are flood lit offering a spectacular view of their canopy. Guests may then wish to sit in the parc by the pond, or on the terrace. Often a smell of herbs and resin fills the air and the tranquillity is only broken by the occasional sound of an owl.
All rooms are individually designed with enormous care and attention and are furnished with antiques. They are named after local grape varieties.
Carignan have been designed to reflect the love which we have for Asian culture. Pictures, silks and artefacts from Japan and Thailand give the rooms a decadent and luxurious oriental feel.
